How to photograph your hair loss
A good assessment depends on being able to see your donor area and the real extent of thinning. Five photographs are usually enough.
The five angles we need
- Front Face the camera, hairline visible, hair off your forehead
- Top Camera above your head, looking down at the crown
- Left side Profile, showing the temple and side
- Right side The same on the other side
- Back Showing the donor area at the back of the head
Getting it right
- Use daylight where possible, and avoid direct overhead light which hides thinning
- Dry hair, no styling products, no fibres or concealers
- Do not use flash, filters or beautifying camera modes
- Photograph with hair in its natural position, not styled to cover
Why this matters. Concealers and flattering angles produce an inaccurate graft estimate, which means an inaccurate quote. It is in your interest to show the loss as it actually is.
