How we write
Editorial policy
Our guides are written to help you make a decision, including deciding against surgery. This page explains who writes them, what we base them on, and what we have not done, so you can judge them accordingly.
Who writes these guides
Guides are written and edited by the Dr Vivo Hair Clinic editorial team, working from the clinic's own patient-facing material and from the published sources listed below. We publish them under the clinic's name rather than under an individual byline, because the clinic is accountable for them.
What we do not claim. These articles are not individually reviewed or signed off by a named doctor, and we do not put a clinician's name or photograph on a page as a credibility badge. If that changes, the reviewing clinician's name, qualification and registration number will appear on the article itself, with the date they reviewed it. Until then, please treat these guides as clinic-produced information rather than independent medical advice.
We have a commercial interest, and we say so
Dr Vivo performs and sells hair transplant procedures. Anything we publish about hair restoration is written by a business that benefits when you choose surgery. That is exactly why every guide carries a visible note saying so, and why we encourage you to read independent sources and speak to a doctor in your own country before travelling.
What we base guides on
We prefer sources in this order:
- Peer-reviewed literature and systematic reviews, for example on PubMed Central
- National health bodies and specialist associations, such as the NHS, the American Academy of Dermatology, DermNet and the ISHRS
- Clinical reference works such as StatPearls
Where a guide states a figure, we link to a source you can check that we do not control. We do not publish statistics about our own outcomes, because we have no independently audited data to support them.
What we will not publish
- Guaranteed results, or any suggestion that surgery is risk free or painless
- Success rates or graft survival figures presented as our own results
- Before and after photographs presented as a prediction of your result
- Promotion of prescription-only medicines to the public
- A named clinician, credential or accreditation that we cannot evidence
How often we review
Guides are reviewed on a rolling basis and at least every two years. Where an article has been genuinely revised, the revision date is shown at the top. We do not restamp articles with a new date when nothing has changed, because that would make stale information look current.
Corrections
If you find something inaccurate, out of date or misleading, please tell us and we will correct it. Write to contact@drvivohairclinic.com with the page address and what you believe is wrong.
