Typically 4-8 hours, depending on technique and graft count. Very large sessions are sometimes split across two days to protect graft quality.

Both extract follicular units individually. In FUE, recipient incisions are made first and grafts are then placed. In DHI, an implanter pen creates the incision and places the graft in one action, which gives close control over angle and depth. Neither is universally better.

A well-planned hairline follows your existing growth direction and density, and is designed to suit your face and age. In the first weeks there will be visible redness and scabbing, which settles. Most people find the early phase more noticeable than the result.

Most people return to desk work within about three to five days. Swelling, redness and scabbing are normal in the first week. Strenuous exercise, swimming, saunas and direct sun are avoided for several weeks.

Transplanted hairs usually shed in the first few weeks, which is expected and not a failure. Regrowth generally starts around months three to four, with the fuller picture at around twelve months.

Reported survival commonly falls around 90-95%. Reported graft survival rates for follicular unit extraction vary between studies and depend on technique, graft handling and patient factors. Individual results vary.

There is no strict upper limit. What matters is donor supply and whether your hair loss has stabilised. Very young patients are often advised to wait, because loss is still progressing and an aggressive hairline can look wrong a decade later.

Sometimes, but it needs planning. If loss continues around a transplanted area, the result can look isolated over time. This is exactly what an honest assessment should raise before you commit.

Yes, though hair loss in women is more often driven by treatable medical causes such as thyroid problems, iron deficiency or telogen effluvium. Those should be investigated before surgery is considered. See our female hair transplant page.

It is performed under local anaesthesia. The anaesthetic injections are the uncomfortable part for most people. Afterwards, tenderness and tightness are common and are managed with prescribed medication.

Ask this of any clinic, including us, and get the answer in writing. In Turkey and elsewhere it is common for parts of the procedure to be carried out by technicians under a surgeon’s supervision. You are entitled to know exactly which parts your surgeon performs, particularly hairline design and incisions.
